The shellfish home of Cape Cod. Located between the “elbow” and tip of the Cape, this Oceanside town is the epitome of the Cape Cod spirit. Beautiful beaches, delicious food, beach homes, and diverse culture are just a few things Wellfleet is known for. It has also become an increasingly popular destination for retirees.
This charming town is not without its history. Founded in 1763, Wellfleet has a colorful past that can be recounted in its various museums and art galleries. Somewhat of a historic landmark, Wellfleet is one of the two towns in the United States to be home to a pirate shipwreck. In 1984 a pirate ship was discovered just off the shores of Wellfleet. To this day, there is only one other incident of this occurring in the country.
While Wellfleet is gorgeous year-round, it is no doubt that the town comes alive during the summer season. With a permanent population of approx. 3,500 this total skyrockets to around 17,000 during beach season. It’s no wonder, considering the crystal clear beaches, warm sand, an array of boutiques and shops in town. For a summer home or permanent residence, Wellfleet is everything you image a home on the Cape to be.
